25 and Live

Supported By

25 and Live was Community Music Wales' 25th Anniversary Event, a night not only to remember our own achievements but also to celebrate the richness of community music as a movement across Wales.

Our mission is to empower communities through enabling them to participate in music making. We believe passionately that engagement in music has the power to transform lives, can empower individuals, support the growth of emotional intelligence, self-esteem, self-confidence and other transferable skills such as teamwork and communication skills.

Throughout the night there were performances and videos from a small sample of our own projects from recent years. There were also performances from some excellent community groups from around Wales. The artists that performed were: 9Bach, Wonderbrass, Ghostbuskers, Blarpipa (formed on our Biophony Project), Cardiff Gamelan, Cardiff Canton Singers and Canton Drumming Circle.

Thank you to everyone that came and celebrated on the night with us, and a huge thank you to the Hodge Foundation for their kind and generous support of the event. The Hodge Foundation was established by the late Julian Hodge; an entrepreneur and banker who set up 3 banks during his lifetime, as well as having a wider involvement in the business community in Wales. The Hodge Foundation owns over 79% of the Hodge group businesses which are primarily engaged in financial services. The principal businesses are Hodge Bank and Hodge Lifetime.

Finally we would like to thank all the staff, board, tutors, musicians and funders both past and present who have built the organisation into what it is today and helped to change the lives of many thousands of people over 25 years.
